Executive Coordinator Denis Ratcliffe predicts a record crowd once again. Catering has been increasing each year, and will be increased to meet the ever growing thirst and hunger for all things German. The atmosphere will be electric so come and “Chicken Dance” the night away. And don’t forget the souvenirs at the Stein Stall, a keepsake, a memento of a merry good time.

There will be traditional Bavarian folk dancing, cowbells, yodeling and plenty of sing-along polka hits.

Heidi the Yodeling Queen also known as Karen Williams, the Mayor of Redlands City Council, will also be back to complement the Kalendar Band. Heidi will have the audience yodeling away with her traditional Bavarian, bluegrass, folk, and contemporary music mix.

Bring your dancing shoes and immerse yourself in Bavarian culture. Join us and celebrate Emu Park Lions’ 31st Oktoberfest!

If you’re lucky you could walk away with one of the raffle prizes.

Emu Park Lions Oktoberfest is reputedly one of the best in Australia. Held in the small town of Emu Park, Queensland (near Yeppoon and Rockhampton) this event is the main fund-raising activity for the Emu Park Lions.

The 35+ members of the club are assisted by dozens of volunteers from other clubs in Rockhampton, Yeppoon and The Caves as well as over a hundred  locals who all pitch in to ensure the success of the day. Typically a crowd of over 3,000 plus locals and visitors from other parts of Queensland and other parts of the world will descend on Emu Park, book out all the accommodation here and in Rockhampton and have a great time starting at around noon.

The day will resound to the music of the Kalander band and many other local and imported acts. Food will include Traditional German potato pancakes (Kartofellpuffers), German sausages, sauerkraut, potato salad and of course good old Emu Park style steak-burgers made with locally produced beef. We could go on and on about the many types of German beers, the wine, the fun and so muck more, but what you really need to do is as “Molly Meldrum” would say, “Do yourself a favor”, and turn up for one of the greatest events anywhere has to offer.

The souvenir and gift shop will again sell beer steins to get filled with a pint or two of great beer. Also all the popular items such as stubby holders and much more will be on sale.

If you intend to travel from Rockhampton or Yeppoon to Emu Park consider the regular Saturday bus services offered by Young’s Bus Service.  There will also be a special late night bus at 10.30pm from Emu Park to Rockhampton via Yeppoon.   If you intend to travel to Emu Park and need accommodation we suggest you organize this now.
