Last year we celebrated the 25th anniversary year of the Emu Park Oktoberfest

The Oktoberfest festival originated in Germany and is steeped in traditional good times and lots of fun.  Our own Emu Park version was inspired by a German living in the area who was a member of the Lions club. He suggested that the club could host a one day version of the famous festival.  Held in Bell Park, Hill Street, Emu Park this event is one of the signature occasions for the central Queensland region.   It is a  day of fun and festivities. German beers, German foods, great music from the Kalendar Band and hundreds of people all set for a good time make this event one of the Capricorn Coast’s “must be there” annual  highlights.

This is an authentic German festival with a wide selection of German food and beers. Patrons enjoy the knackwurst, the bratwurst and don’t forget the kartoffelpuffers and the selection of imported beers for those with a thirst.

What is an Oktoberfest “Virgin”?

As I mingled on the day talking to people and taking the odd photo, I heard this new term a few times. Apparently if you have never been to an Oktoberfest before, this is you. The “Oktoberfest Virgins” I spoke to all unanimously echoed the same sentiment. “See you here next year”. I guess when you manage to have part of your event added to the local dictionary of local speak, you have really come of age. Make sure you come along to the the next Oktoberfest.
